Car Net Racer Instructions

The control scheme for Car Net Racer is something new, especially in car games. So you are someone who uses the arrow / cursor keys a lot to drive in car games? Perhaps you also press a couple of other buttons to pause the game, change the camera view, etc.? In any case, you play car games entirely with your keyboard. HOWEVER, not this time... that's not how it goes with Car Net Racer. Instead of the usual arrow keys, you will play this car game with a mouse and a mouse ALONE. Just drag your mouse and the car will follow. Now let's have a closer look at the game.

Car Net Racer Walkthrough

In my opinion, car games built from top to bottom for promotional purposes have 3 categories: (1) There are promotional car games that just plain suck. The developers slapped some 3D images of cars and blocks or buildings. Set the control scheme, and paste ads all over the game. (2) Next to that category are those not-great-but-quite-OK promotional car games. Nah, they are not fantastic BUT they are way better than the first category. They have above average graphics and design; there are some game modes to choose from; the controls are nice and easy to use... I'm sure you get my drift. (3) And last BUT not the least, there are promo games that are just GREAT. Graphics and design, sound track, game play, customization options - these car games just rock in these departments.

All it takes is a quick glance at Car Net Racer and you can tell that this is a promotional car game for NextCar.net. So which category does this game fall under? Let's not sugar-coat it, let's get straightforward: it's at the second category. It's NOT great (far from it). BUT it's quite solid. One thing that I like about this game is the control scheme. Using the mouse to drive a car online instead of the usual up, left, down, and right arrow keys (or W, A, S, and D keys in some cases) is something new. All you need to do is drag the mouse and the car will automatically follow the cursor. It may seem a little difficult at first BUT, with a little practice, you should get used to it.

Now there are no levels, stages, or cups in this game. If long racing tournaments are your thing, if that's what you are looking for, then maybe you should check out something else. If you are looking for a car game that has A LOT of customization options; upgrades for your engine, wheels' stability; beef up your car's handling and acceleration, then this is NOT for you. Car Net Racer doesn't have any of those.

HOWEVER, if you are looking for car games that take you to the race track with as few clicks as possible, you will love Car Net Racer. There are 3 game modes to choose from: (1) Practice Lap: As the name suggests, the scores here don't count. It's just a single-lap race, and it's just for practice. (2) 5 Lap Race: The name says it all. There's nothing more to be said about this. (3) 10 Lap Race: If you think the 5 lap race is too short for your liking, if you want to drag it out at the race tracker for a longer time, then this game mode is for you. Just click any of them and you will be taken right away to the 'scene of action'. Hit the start button and off you go.

Now there are a couple of reminders I would like to point out: (1) You are up against a good racer here. Heck! After all, they are computer-driven... precision is their forte! You would hardly see them collide or go off-track. In simpler terms, you will find yourself on the losing end most of the time... especially if you are not yet accustomed to the unusual control scheme. (2) Do NOT go off the track. Steer clear from the grass. Make that mistake and you will slow down like a turtle, which is a good as handing the first place award to your opponent. Aside from that, if you stay off track for too long, or if you go further than that, your car will explode and you need to start the level again.

It's quite solid for a promotional car game. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles; playing it is a straightforward affair; and the control scheme, while unusual, is very easy to learn. If that's what you are looking for in a car game, then the search is over. Car Net Racer MORE than fits the bill.
