Congestion Chaos Walkthrough
Congestion Chaos is one of those car games that recognizes a game about cars doesn't need to be a racing game. It's the kind of car game anyone can enjoy playing regardless of whether or not they enjoy racing or not. The graphics aren't fantastic and the actual premise of the game is pretty simple but it's still one of the more entertaining car games online. It's actually surprisingly addictive for something so simple. Your goal is simply to drive your van around town making deliveries (marked by large white circles) while trying to avoid spotlights and crashes with other cars. Get caught in a spotlight or crash into another car and you'll raise attention. Raise too much attention and your van will be impounded and crushed into one of those little cubes which will also end your game. Makes sense. I imagine it would be pretty difficult to drive one of those cubes around town, let alone make deliveries in it.
While on the surface Congestion Chaos isn't really that complicated, there are a lot of things you need to pay attention to if you want to do well, the attention meter being the most important. Shown at the bottom right of your screen, you need to do everything you can to avoid allowing that attention meter to fill. Keep a close eye on it so you know just how much room for error you have. Sometimes over the course of the game you will find yourself in a tough position. There could be cars racing all around you and spot lights blocking your safe passage to your desired destination. If your attention meter is nearly full, you're going to want to stay where you are and wait it out. You don't want to run into (or be run into) cars and then get hit by a spot light if your attention meter is just about full. Alternatively, you can choose to take a few hits, raise a bit of attention and save a little time waiting if you're still on the low end of the attention meter. It's a risks versus benefits kind of deal.
There is definitely a strategy to Congestion Chaos. While it isn't exactly a traditional car game, traditional car game techniques can be applied here. Your car is pretty easy to control - something that can't be said for most of the other car games online - but you still really need to pay attention to where your car needs to go. If a particular path looks especially treacherous, look for another way to reach your destination. There is usually another road to take that will get you to where you need to be but won't be quite as risky. If that isn't the case, hug the buildings. Staying in the center of the road or even in one lane or the other is a great way to get hit by other cars while staying against buildings offers you a little safety. It's also a good idea to watch the spot lights to see what their range is. If you can time it right, you can drive right passed them. Also watch for how far their light extends. If you can hide out along an opposite wall, you can sometimes avoid the light but first make sure the light doesn't reach that far.
If you want to do well in Congestion Chaos you need to make sure you pay attention to the other cars on the road and the spot light but also where your next delivery is. By keeping your destination in mind, you can look for the best way to get there. Don't be afraid to hide out somewhere safe for a moment or two to allow you time to figure out a plan of action. Take your time. Remember, this is a car game - not a racing game. If you just rush through this one like it's a race you're going to do yourself a huge disservice and likely hurt your score in the end. It doesn't take long to look at the streets that allow you access to your delivery destination. Check them out, look at the lights on the neighboring building and look at the traffic on this streets. Just like in real life, some streets have a lower volume of traffic. Those are the streets you want to use as often as possible.
Overall, Congestion Chaos is the kind of car game fans of the genre will really appreciate. It's different but it doesn't stray so far from the basic elements of car games that it alienates loyal fans of the genre. It isn't the most difficult car game online but it can be pretty tricky. Be patient, take time to think and pay attention to what the other cars on the road are doing and where the spot lights shine and you should be able to drop off a fair number of deliveries to get a great score. The only question I really have about the game after playing is one the game doesn't seem to answer - what exactly are you dropping off that requires you to be so secretive?
