Speed Racer Walkthrough

Speed Racer is one heck of a car game offering just about everything someone could want out of a game in this genre. With excellent graphics, truly challenging tracks and eight different cars to choose from it's hard to imagine not being entertained by this one. It's the kind of car game that is going to keep you playing race after race. In truth, the basic premise of the game isn't all that different than the premise you get with most of the other racing based car games online. You're in control of a car speeding around a track bursting with twists and turns with one goal in mind - winning the race. What sets this one apart from most of the other car games though is that you can actually take out your opponents using weapons and in this game, the stakes are a bit higher. Misjudging a turn doesn't simply mean crashing. It means falling off the edge of the track and falling what appears to be a very, very long distance. In practice that will only hurt your time. In a race, one mistake like that could mean the difference between winning and losing.

Speed Racer is perfect for experienced car game players and newcomers to the genre alike thanks to the option of choosing either to race or practice when you begin your game. This one is definitely difficult though. I would recommend taking a spin on the beginner's track in practice mode before moving on to actual races so you can see what you're in for. If you do well, step things up a notch and give Racer's Run a try. If you're still feeling confident at the end, give Expert's Rollercoaster a shot. Once you're feeling ready, move on to the races. Don't ignore the benefit of those practice races. It could mean all the different in where you place in the races. In addition, take a few minutes to try out a few different cars. The Racer X Road car (the second car from the left) is a great car for beginners. It isn't the fastest car but it allows you a little more control and it's fairly well balanced over all. All of the cars offer their own strengths and weaknesses though so look over them carefully. You want to make sure you have the best car for your skill level when you head into the races.

The actually tracks in Speed Racer are beautifully designed and definitely offer a good challenge for players of any skill level. A lot of time and effort went into the graphics and designing the tracks which isn't something you can often say about online car games. The different cars are great and well designed but the real stars of this show are the tracks. With loop-the-loops, spirals and jumps, this game definitely takes things to a whole new level. There are some tracks in this game that feel nearly impossible to complete but they aren't. Stick with it and be patient. You'll get it. Besides, where's the fun in playing a game that doesn't put your skills to the test?

The best way to do well in Speed Racer is to choose a car that works well to you and really take the time to take advantage of those practice levels. This isn't your typical car game. It is much harder, especially once you take on some of the more advanced tracks and start racing against other competitors. As with most racing based car games, you also really need to pay attention to the corners. Missing a corner in this game will cost you dearly in a race. Back off the speed when necessary and focus on keeping your car under control. If you hit a sharp corner with too much speed you're either going to veer out of control and fly off the track as you take the turn or have a hard time getting yourself straight again after you've completed the turn. Don't be afraid to slow down. While it seems to go against the basic principle of racing, taking your foot (or finger, as the case may be) off the gas will help you in the long run.

Overall, Speed Racer isn't the kind of car game you can really explain. It needs to be experienced. The graphics alone make this one worth your time. It is going to challenge you and it is going to frustrate you but it will also keep you entertained from start to finish. This is a game you're going to come back to time and time again. It's a game you're going to want to share with your friends. Is it the best car game online? Probably not but it's definitely up there. If you are a fan of racing based car games, you absolutely need to check this one out. Newcomers will struggle but the option to practice makes it possible for them to improve. There are no other cars on the track to worry about while in practice mode so you can just focus on honing your skills. That not only benefits the newcomer in this game but also many of the other racing based car games online. You're going to have a blast with this one. If only the movie it's based on had been this much fun.
