Vintage Carbon Walkthrough
Vintage Carbon isn't your typical car game. Instead of simply trying to make it around a twisting, turning track as quickly as you can and trying to best the other racers you're competing against, your goal is much different in this one and your approach to completing each level needs to be different as well. Your goal is still to make it from point A to point B but in order to successfully make that journey without getting arrested, you'll need to take a much more measured approach. Slow and steady definitely wins this race. You need to avoid taking even the slightest bit of damage to the car you're in control of. If you hit one of the obstacles in your way you'll set off the alarms, the police will come and your game will be over. Did I mention you're not just driving the vintage cars you're in control of but you're also stealing them? This is a game with personality. It has a great story, entertaining graphics and levels that will genuinely challenge you to put your skills to the test. This is a game no car game fan should pass up even if it is a bit slower paced.
You start with three garages to choose from in Vintage Carbon; each one offering a different story and different levels but basically the same method of game play. When you select your garage, you'll be shown the basic story of that garage and a brief outline of the controls. As I mentioned, the controls are basically the same in each of the garages so you don't really have to worry a whole lot about picking up new skills as you play. As you progress though, there are new things you'll have to familiarize yourself with but nothing terribly complicated. Everything is pretty easy to understand although not always easy to use. For example, in some of the earlier levels, you'll need to use switches to open doors or gates. You don't really get an introduction to this before you start the level, but it isn't hard to figure out what the switch is for or how you'll use it considering "drive over to open gate" is written right on the switch. Actually driving over the switch can be a bit tricky but you'll at least know that's what you're supposed to do.
What really sets Vintage Carbon apart from most of the other car games online that offer a similar format are the extra details you need to pay attention to with this one. For starters, you will need to refuel. This is generally absent from not only other car games similar to this one but from online car games in general. You need to watch your fuel gauge at the bottom right hand side of the screen. While you can generally take as much time as you need to complete a level you do want to get through it with a decent time to get a decent time bonus. Running out of fuel can definitely slow you down. You refuel again by simply clicking the fuel icon (on the bottom right) repeatedly but it's best to pay attention to the gauge so you can see when you'll need to refuel and are prepared to do so. The lights go out every so often in this game. If you run out of fuel and the lights go out, you won't be able to turn them back on until you refuel. This costs you time, unless of course you decide to give it a go in the dark. I would not recommend that.
Overall, Vintage Carbon is the sort of car game any fan of the genre can enjoy if they're looking for something a little out of the ordinary. If you want to do well in this game, you need to focus on where you need the car to go and the obstacles preventing you from getting there. You need to always be aware of where the obstacles are regardless of what that obstacle is. Sometimes you'll need to reverse and move forward then reverse again and move forward again turning ever so slightly to the right or left to make it past an obstacle cleanly, but rest assured - there isn't a single challenge in this game that can't be met. You will be able to beat the game. You just need patience. If you rush you will fail. It's as simple as that. Stay focused, pay attention to your fuel gauge, keep one finger on the spacebar ready to turn the lights back on and you should not only be able to beat every level but also get a decent score as well. Have fun!
